When I cook dinner, you know, chicken and veggies, or roast beef, my family loves my pastry, especially smothered in gravy. They go over really well with company too, and recently I have had a few people call looking for my recipe. These also go well with beef stew.

Dinner Pastry

1 cup flour
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
3 tbsp. butter/margarine
1/2 cup boiling water
1/4- 1/2 cup cold water

Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
Boil the kettle, and place margarine into a 1 cup measuring cup. Pour approximately 1/2 cup boiling water over the margarine and stir till melted. Then fill the measuring cup to the 1 cup mark with cold water. The mixture should be warm but not hot, or it will scald the baking powder. Stir the mixture well and pour most of it, approx. 3/4 cup into the dry mixture. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Too much stirring causes a tough pastry. I like to bake the pastries in muffin cups, for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

Enjoy.
